Firstly; This is a cracking piece of equipment for the price.

It is worth mentioning that you should check your router is compatible with the camera prior to purchasing, especially if you have an older router. The guys at the help desk were more than happy to assist when I enquired and recommended a suitable replacement for my old Tiscali router (which was rubbish) - I understand the SKY, BT and Virgin equipment is all compatible but for the sake of a few minutes on their website, or a quick email to the service guys, you'll know for sure.

Set up for my first camera was a little tricky but only as I didn't really follow the instructions - do yourself a favour and have a look at the YouTube clip which shows you what to do. I have since bought 2 more cameras and the initial set up took minutes. There are plenty of options to play around with on the camera administration screen but you won't need to get too carried away. Don't adjust anything you aren't sure of as you don't really need to.

Being able to view the camera feed remotely from a smart phone is also relatively easy to set up. There are a couple of decent apps for smart phones and, again, the help desk guys were more than happy to help. You will be checking it all of the time so you have been warned!!.

I'd be lying if I said that the cameras worked flawlessly all of the time although this is probably about expecting too much I think - at the end of the day you are paying a couple of hundred quid and not a couple of thousand. 5 years ago you would have had to employ a full time security guard for your house to get the same service you do with this piece of kit!.

Have a think about where you are going to place the camera as the PIR seems sensitive to direct sunlight (ie.

First thoughts:
This camera is wireless, so only a low-voltage power cable is required. This makes installation very easy. I was concerned about wireless range, but initial setup gave no trouble.
Picture is great in daylight, and reasonable in the dark. (I think the quoted range of about 15m at night is about right.)
I write to my QNAP NAS box, which means I have no storage issues, even on continuous record.

UPDATE:
Two problems have emerged. Firstly, wireless connection is very patchy. The signal is strong and there is no interference, but half the time the signal is not present, even after installing an extra wireless point on a different channel, 15 feet away. EYESPY247 will not look at the camera unless I pay - NOT very impressive for a camera a few months old. They even suggested that the fact that I was viewing AND recording (i.e. two feeds) would over-tax the camera (which claims to support 3 simultaneous feeds).
Secondly EYESPY247 support instructed me to apply new firmware, and since then the picture is very grainy.

The features of the camera are good, but if it constantly drops out then they are no use. Support is unhelpful. I would not buy this camera again.

I bought this in preference to a number of cheaper cameras because the spec is very good for the money and it is well made, with a quality mount. I am quite technically savvy and wanted a camera that could be triggered to upload video to my NAS, which in-turn is synced to Dropbox for access from my mobile/tablet/PC from anywhere. I have also configured an SMTP mail account for the camera rather than using EyeSpy's own subscription-based service. Being able to record continuously to the internal SD card is another bonus. Once configured and working properly, the camera is really very good. But it has taken me just over a week of messing about with a few emails to tech support and a firmware upgrade to get there. The tech support is excellent, quick and with good advice, but it would be better to provide a little more documentation about the unit; for instance knowing basic stuff like Stream 1 is the live stream and Stream 2 is the one which is recorded would be handy.

So why did it take a week to get it working satisfactorily? I actually had the unit up and working wirelessly in an hour; the rest of the time was spent trying to find a way of triggering it to detect movement that worked during BOTH daylight and night-time. The problem is that the PIR sensor does not work during the day and the motion detection is prone to false triggers at night due to flashing/noise in the picture being interpreted as movement. In order to avoid false triggers at night I ended up with the threshold too high to detect movement during the day. Lowering the threshold to detect movement during the day caused it trigger continually at night.

Good points:
There are some but they are outweighed by the bad ones

Bad points:
Poor definition of video in night vision
Poor webserver software
PIR sensitivity is not adjustable
The worst ever customer support

Overview:
I have owned one of these cameras for over 3 months and it has never worked properly due to a faulty power supply. They have failed to supply a replacement for it but I have confirmed the fault by using the power supply from my network hub. Previously Eyespy told me to return the camera for repair, but, as there is no fault with it, they have refused to refund my carriage costs (over £30 from Spain). They claim to have sent two replacement power supplies - one never arrived, the other has an American plug. They have refused to use Recorded delivery and stated, "if we send another PSU out to you there is no guarantee it is goint to get to you" and "I do appreciate your frustration at not having received the power supplies but it's a little unfair to blame us for what is obviously failings with your local postal system." They couldn't care less that they have supplied a faulty product and said, "Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be for you to source a power supply locally (ensuring it conforms to the camera's requirements) and let us have a receipt for that and we can refund you by adding the equivalent credit to your EyeSpy247 account." I have confirmation from them that they do not refund postage - they add credit to an on-line account (which I neither use nor want).
