Ray Mears brings the wilderness to life and really wants you to go out there and enjoy it. His enthusiasm comes across in every page. I found this a thouroughly enjoyable as well as invaluable read. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in discovering the great outdoors.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good teach yourself guide, 11 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Ray's second book and while not as 'in depth' as his first was and his third promises to be it is an excellent starter book for anyone wishing to learn bushcraft. Certainly beats all the re-gurgetated military rubbish that has flooded the market.
