Product Description

Product Description

The Outback Spectrum range is taking the barbecue market by storm. This lovely looking barbecue is made from a mix of wood and metal and comes in a sleek black colour. The Outback Spectrum three-burner barbecue is great gas flatbed model. It features a hinged flat lid, a warming rack and a porcelain-coated fire bowl, as well as an easy-to-clean drip tray that makes cleaning up easy and hassle-free. The lid and body have been factory-assembled for convenience and the trolley, which is made from FSC-certified hardwood and metal, sits on large rubber tyres.

The porcelain-coated cast iron grills and griddle on this barbecue means that the cooking surfaces will be easy to keep clean with just a gentle wash after use, and will remain rust-free, thus making them more hygienic. If you have a griddle on your barbecue, you can turn it over to display a flat surface, which is ideal for frying eggs. This Outback flatbed barbecue also features a handy hinged lid. This means that, once you lift the lid up, it is securely fixed to the rear of the barbecue and will stay there for the duration of your cooking session, acting as a windshield to protect your food whilst you cook. There is also a handy warming rack, which is ideal for increasing your overall cooking area. You can place food on this rack once it has been cooked, leaving the grills and griddles free for actual cooking. Food placed on the warming rack will stay warm with the heat of the main cooking area. Finally, the Outback Spectrum features top-quality stainless steel burners, which provide optimum heat output, longevity and performance.

not a problem for me 19 July 2010
By seedy
after reading the reviews of previously posted reviews, i am a little confused that as to what bbq they are reviewing.
i purchased the 2010 model a few weeks back and find this a excellent bbq.
despite being kiwi, i am not a seasoned bbq master ( as most southern hemphisphere think they are) but this bbq made me look like a master, the simnple idea of preheat then turn do to low and time manage your different meat works like a treat, and did not burn or undercook one meat product, the bbq is cooks well in all areas of the bbq, and installation and cleaning is simple.
good size meant that i could cook for 10 people at the same time.
rating would be 9/10 for me , tho please be aware that you have to download a installation manual, and the bbq does not need briquettes ( according to B&Q) and has no place to fit them either.
paid approx £200 incl free delivery free cover and regulator

I bought an Outback Spectrun 3 burner BBQ as a replacement to my existing Outback 3 burner.

And what a dissapointment it has been.
The design changes that have been made, by shortening and narrowing the burner units means that the actual under heat cooking area is very small indeed.
The front third of the unit is basically unuseable for cooking, there are gaps between one burner unit and the next in which again no cooking takes place.

As a bbq I would give it 10 out of a 100 and seriuouslty consider my position with Outback products

I bought this barbecue to replace a John Lewis Outback Barbecue.

This is the worst barbecue I have ever had. It has significant hotspots combined with areas that don't cook at all so cooking food becomes a really difficult task with food apparently next to each other cooking at different speeds or burning. Suddenly it will burst into flames. The front of the burners is short so the front part of the grill doesn't cook at all.

Its so bad that I am getting rid of it after 1 and a half seasons which is against my normal practice but its almost unusable.
