Outback Hunter 3 Burner Gas Barbecue
This is the second Outback Hunter barbecue that we have bought. The first was brilliant. It lasted for over ten years of pretty intensive use, until finally the burners and the chassis started to rot out. Consequently we had no hesitation in ordering a replacement.
That was two years ago.
The new barbecue did not seem quite as robust or substantial as the unit it was replacing, but I took comfort from the increased use of stainless steel, and better quality finishing all round. Unfortunately after less than a year one of the burners rusted out. The supplier I bought it through on Amazon referred me to the organisation that handles all of Outback's warranty claims and spare parts in the UK.
In spite of my having the receipt, model and chassis number, they were unable to identify the burner I needed. After a while I chased them, at which point they asked me to send them the dimensions of the burner I required. This I duly did. Following this I was sent a burner that was 1" too long for the unit, when I rang to explain the situation I was more or less told that I didn't know how to fit the burner properly. (I rebuild vintage cars by the way!). I therefore sent them a drawing of the burner that was required, and finally the correct burner was sent to me and duly fitted.
Now, a year later,(and not much use - what kind of summers have you had lately?) a second burner has rusted through. And do you know what? I don't feel I have the energy to deal with Outback's UK spare parts supplier again. I'm just going to replace the barbecue with another brand - any suggestions?
