I bought this book the day before I left to read on a plane between Australia and Thailand, and before I actually got on the plane I had read it through twice! This is a wonderful compilation of stories from four outstanding authors. Each brings their own unique, and often bizarre, twist to the world of romance. JD Robb's cynical but ever human Lieutenant Eve Dallas drags readers onto the gritty city streets of future New York, and Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake takes readers behind the closed doors of an often twisted St Louis. Maggie Shayne's vampires and Susan Krinard's werewolves provide a window into a world within our own. This book is one that will appeal to both fans and new readers alike. Each story can stand alone and does not require exhaustive prior knowledge of the characters or the previous novels, and each whetts the appetite for any new novels soon to come out. I have already placed my order for the next in each series by both JD Robb and Laurell K Hamilton, and I am about to look for the next by Maggie Shayne and Susan Krinard. A fantastic read I have no hesitation in reccommending to anyone at all!

3.0 out of 5 stars Warning! 16 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Don't buy this if you are an "Anita Blake" fan, the L.K.Hamilton story is merely the first few chapters of her latest book, "Narcissus in chains." The Robb story is one I haven't seen before and the other authors were new to me.

The Eve and Roake story was as good as I expected. This is the first book I have read with other authors included and I found the other stories enjoyable and of a good quality

2.0 out of 5 stars I gave it 2 stars 5 July 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
for the JD Robb story, the LKH is a rip off as it is from her 'narcissus in chains' and is frankly drivel. The other two stories are passable. I don't mind Maggie Shayne but this is a pale effort. I wish the publishers wouldn't team JD Robb with other authors just to give the less deserving writers a boost! Definately won't be buying another of these anthologies again. Disappointing.
