Peter Gamble adds the sleeve notes to this excellent 2 album offering from Not Now Music. Again, classic albums that would cost a great deal to otherwise own are brought to you at a most reasonable price and in copies that are excellent for sound. A mix of self penned and standard song book numbers there is plenty to interest both the avid collector and occasional jazz listener. Highlights for me are "The Baron" CD1 track 3 followed by "On Green Dolphin Street" CD2 track 2 both of which explore his skills and with stolid sidemen these are super performances all from 1960. Out There and Outward Bound are both landmark albums in his career. The packaging is attractive and the liner plots the story of an innovative performer Eric Dolphy a class act who could play not one but three instruments better than most. Great value and yet another reason to check out the jazz catalogue of Not Now Music.

You've got to learn to listen to Eric Dolphy. But once you appreciated "Out For Lunch" everything he made is OK.
If you like this check Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, and Albert Ayler. Enjoy!
