Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Paul van Dyk spent most of the 1990s perfecting a strain of credible, melodic Euro-trance that connected with clubbers all over the globe. Having honed his style and established a trademark sound, the East German DJ brings it all together on this, an album the over-zealous call the first great dance record of the 21st century. It begins in fine fashion with the cool break-beat shimmer of "Vegas", swiftly followed by "Pikes", a valve-pumping Ibizan knees-up that's a tribute to the island's fabled hotel. So far, so good--this is top-notch progressive house that's guaranteed to make them move. However, if you're expecting more of the same, beware, because from here on in it's out with the glo-sticks and on with the face paint as a succession of clichéd trance anthems rudely gatecrash the party. From the lunar-landings vibe of "Avenue" through to the sweet pop lilt of "Face To Face", hypnotic riffs, sanguine chords and hollow, metronome beats take centre stage. Van Dyk's no ATB, but ultimately this is just as one-dimensional. --Paul Tierney

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't ever compare PVD to ATB, 7 Jun 2000
By A Customer
PVD's third proper album and undeniably his best. Most may have heard the singles old and new, but PVD's always been much more than that. This isn't trance by numbers like Ferry Corsten and his dutch mates. This is eclectic, experimental, melodic dance music that you can only fall in love with. Go see him DJ if you haven't yet. Top Class

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely atmospheric, uplifting, 22 Jan 2002
By A Customer
One of my favourite albums. If you like trance, this a must buy. Very relaxing to listen to but also one you can dance to. Lovely emotional (without sounding soppy), uplifting touch - I *particularly* like Face To Face, Out There And Back and We Are Alive but there is not one track I dislike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trance Master, 4 Jun 2000
By A Customer
Paul Van Dyk is most famous for rich melodies, deep thumping kicks, layers of hypnotic synths, complex body shivering riffs and not forgetting his DJ-ing skills, quite simply put, he's the BEST trance artist. Not BT, ATB or even me :-)) can ever match his skills when it comes to producing something which will blow you away as much as his music does. Ferry Corsten is the closest artist/producer that can take on PVD, but PVD would still outshine him. Remember For An Angel, sending shivers down your spine with it's smooth yet touchy riffs and melody, well, this album offers tunes which will cause the same effect, and even more... A work of genius, the Mozzart of dance music... Excellent piece of...

5.0 out of 5 stars PVD is simply the "dream-trance" god.
Basically, this album is for the people who love trance but either can't or don't want to go to an overcrowded overpriced dingy club to listen to decent trance. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Stupendous, ensorcelled and conspicuous CD!
At first I did not quite like the album, or, should I say, did not pertinently understand its ulterior motive and vastly clandestine, surreptitious quiddity. Read more
