The Godfather sings ballads

Most of people knows James Brown as the father of funky: in fact he is well-known for his hits i feel goog and sex machine, which are considered funky milestones. This is true, but the Godfather of soul, before becoming a funky star, had a previous and successful career as a great soul-r&b singer. It might be strange, but his rendition of such classics like Stranger in the Night and Georgia on my mind were really passionate and refined, despite his rough voice, which (this is an acknolowledged point) was definitely more suitable for uptempo tunes than for mellow ballads.
In this 1964 lp, very underrated by the reviewers, James Brown proved himself to be unbeatable even when singing soul and jazz standards (Nature boy, Come rain or come shine, I love you Porgy) , even though sometimes his repressed energy seems to explode and he hardly manages to hold back his rage and fury.
If you are looking for an unusual James Brown, this is the lp for you.
