** 'A genuine talent to thrill.' Tess Gerritsen

Product Description

Erin Baker is driven by a tragedy from her past. When she was a child, her eight-year-old sister, Claire, was kidnapped. Though Claire was miraculously found, she was changed forever. Now a rising star in the CIA, Erin's life takes an unexpected turn when she spots an ice cream vendor performing magic tricks for kids. She has seen this man before - the day her sister disappeared. Erin is certain there is a link between her sister's case and the more recent disappearance of a young boy. She meets Alec Donovan, an FBI agent on the hunt to find the missing child, whose record for locating missing children is exceptional. Suddenly Alec and Erin find themselves on a desperate pursuit- from the streets of America's most peaceful neighbourhoods to a horrifying underworld where children are stolen and trafficked.

Format:Hardcover
Erin Baker is highly regarded in the CIA. She is driven by guilt from her past. When she was only a child herself, her eight-year-old sister, Claire, was kidnapped from the park. Erin was supposed to have watched Claire. She failed. Claire was eventually found, but she had been changed forever. Now Erin may have a chance to finally catch the man responsible. He was known as The Magician.

Alec Donovan is an FBI agent on the hunt for a missing child. His record for locating missing children is high. His hunches are almost legendary! Erin is positive that the person who recently kidnapped the boy Alec is searching for, is the same one who took Claire all those years ago. On a hunch, Alec agrees. The two begin an investigation that digs up horrors, committed by untouchable people in very high places.

**** This one will keep you turning the pages at the speed of light. It is an intense plot that is all too real.

Much like Patricia Cornwell, this author seems to be creating a realistic hero and heroine in which the reader can grow attached to and look forward to seeing in future books together. These main characters are attracted to one another, but their romance will grow slowly and fans may watch as it blooms. I find myself eagerly awaiting the next release involving Erin and Alec! ****

It's rare for me to start a book and not finish it. It's even rarer for me to get through 150 pages of a book and realise that I have no interest in continuing it.

I'll just describe one of the villains to you so you can judge how realistic the characters are. Firstly, he's a diplomat at the German embassy in Washington. A full time and prestige job you might think requiring many years of good diplomatic work.

But this guy is also a General. Goodness knows how he spared the time to have such a successful army career. (Unless of course he's a military attache - but then he would have a lower rank than General.)

But that's not enough for this guy. He's also a very successful businessman, possessing a large number of ships etc. Obviously this must be how he fills up his weekends.

Ridiculous.

I loved this book! I felt that it was extremely well written and constantly kept me waiting and watching for what would happen next. I was breathing a sigh of contentment with three pages left to go, and WHAM! Patricia added an action packed finish. I had a smile on my face when I finished, because I had her next book in hand ready to read. If you love a good mystery you won't miss with this book!

I Couldn't Let this Book Out of MY Reach!! 15 May 2005
By Alicia in Georgia - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
In ths fast-paced thriller, the heroes are trying to find a kidnapped boy, Ryan, as he tries to escape. CIA agent Erin recognizes a magician as one she saw when her sister was kidnapped, 19 years ago, and believes the cases are related. The bad guys are truly evil, and always close behind, causing many twists and turns. The characters are so real. This book will even make you see the internet differently. Patricia Lewin has a wonderful way with words!!
