(THE FILM):What do you get if you take one television chef, past his sell by date, add two armed robbers, stir in the police and simmer for three days? The answer is Out On A Limb, a black comedy served with a dressing of sexual tension and confusion. On screen Felix Limb (Henry Goodman) appears to be the perfect convivial TV Chef. Off screen he is a neurotic with rapidly plummeting ratings and a neglected, beautiful wife, Michelle (Julianne White). Whilst hosting an end of series dinner party Michelle lets slip that his show has just been cancelled. His secret out, Felix rounds on Michelle; then celebrates his new found freedom and Amy his PA, reveals their affair as she dumps him. What else can go wrong? Two naïve bank robbers forget to buy an A-Z and storm the dinner party.
WHAT CAN I SAY?
for A low budget British film this is an unexpectedly treat it turned out to be. A cleverly written modern satire that takes a bunch of morally reprehensible, celebrity obsessed characters, feeds them up with luxurious food, then has them taken hostage, first by firearms then by the media of the outside world, as desperate to exploit their situation as the trapped house-mates are themselves. Big Brother could learn a few lessons from this!! Laugh out loud funny, quotable lines, and strong performances all round - especially from the two leads -Henry Goodman, and the wonderful Julianne White
Out On A Limb will be a cult classic soon .
For anyone looking for that unexpected gem , definitely check this one out.
