Product Description

"Out of time" is a story about three young men dragged by a freak accident from the early nineteenth century into the high tech world of the twenty-third. They are transported through time from the gundeck of the 74 gun ship of the line HMS Spartan and into the hangar decks of the huge new starship NECS Vanguard. They must now come to terms not only with the change of time, but with the gap in their understanding of the universe, science and technology - and do this in the midst of a power struggle between those who seek to take over the governments of the free world and those in the political process who through their own corruption and self interest seek to allow this - and those who must prevent it. The Fleet of starships and its dedicated crews must fight to save the freedom of their peoples - and of the aliens enslaved in the service of the plotters. The three are both a target for corrupt bureaucrats and scientists and a key factor in the frustration of these plans. Harry Heron, Ferghal O'Connor and Danny Gunn are taken out of their time and plunged head first into another where they find they have as much to contribute as they have to learn.

Swashbuckling sci fi 14 Nov 2006
By V. Cox
Format:Paperback
This book is a surprising mix of seagoing history and spacegoing sci fi. The two genres actually work together quite well, particularly since one of the central themes of the book is how much useful knowledge is lost from generation to generation. Out of Time is fast-paced and won't leave you time to get bored. If you like your sci fi to be real rather than all squeaky clean and nice, give this book a try.

Must Read 4 Oct 2007
Format:Paperback
This book spans the universe and time and will appeal to young adults and older. It is a case of Robert Heinlein meets Alexander Kent with a genuine dash of good story-telling thrown in. It was a pleasure reading "hard" Science Fiction where the science lesson doesn't take over the story.
The adjustment of the three young men snatched from the Napoleonic era into the 24th Century shows the human spirit of survival and adaptation all told
with a page-turning urgency.
I certainly hope that this is the first of a series.

READ THIS! 18 Sep 2007
Format:Paperback
I really enjoyed this book, once I was into it. There was a wonderful sense of time and place.I loved the characters and the overall sense of discipline on board the sailing ship, and, space ship of the future, with the underlying warmth we expect from true leaders.
When the action hots up, it is indeed difficult to put the book down. The plot winds up to a very satisfying conclusion with lots of adventure, resourcefulness on the part of our central characters and, of the course the triumph of good over evil, that is the essential part of narratives like this. I can't wait for the sequel..
