I first discovered Katra through the song "Kuunpoika" a Finnish version of "Hijo del la Luna". I liked it a lot, so I went and bought the CD. I found Katra to have a lovely voice and to sing in a nice operatic style. I am a big fan of Within Temptation, and Beast Within reminded me a bit of them.
So as soon as Katra's second CD, Out of the Ashes, became available, I bought it. After listening to it a few times, I have formed my opinion of it. Frankly, it was a disappointment. I liked it ok overall, but none of the tracks really stood out (I like Hide and Seek well enough though). But what I really missed was the operatic style so prevalent in her first album. Out of the Ashes is more rockish, so she sings in a lower range and the beauty of her voice is greatly diminished. The music is still good, but not good enough to make up for the changed singing style.
I still recommend this CD to fans of her first album, but if you are new to Katra, start with Beast Within.
