More About the Author

Lucy Mills is a freelance writer and editor. She writes non-fiction articles, mainly for the Christian market.

FORGETFUL HEART
Lucy's book 'Forgetful Heart: remembering God in a distracted world' was published in April 2014 by Darton, Longman and Todd. We live in a world full of distractions, where lack of time and the pressures of daily living contribute to our spiritual lives becoming treated with less priority, sometimes forgotten altogether. This is a book for the forgetful-hearted; those of us who frequently forget God in our lives, even when we desperately want to remember.

POETRY AND PRAYERS
Lucy also has three anthologies available to download on Kindle: Fragile World, Out of Darkness and Shine.

"Reading it had the mental effect on me akin to a summer's breeze softly blowing the heaviness from a troubled mind. For me that's a wonderful effect and a testament to the author's linguistic, imaginative and poetic abilities." - review of FRAGILE WORLD on Amazon.co.uk

"Lucy's poetry is so transparent and thought-provoking. I recommend it as good food for thought - to challenge and encourage." - review of OUT OF DARKNESS on Amazon.com.

Although I'm not really a poetry fan or expert, Lucy Mills has some arresting language and imagery here. This would be a good collection for anyone doubting, desperate or in difficulty. I enjoyed these, so thank you, Lucy, and well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Something for everyone 23 Aug 2013

What I loved about Lucy's writing is that she so beautifully and eruditely expresses what so many of us are thinking. What's more, I believe there may well be some don't even realise the relevance to their own lives that Lucy's experiences and discoveries bring, until they read what she's written. My guess is that for these readers it would be like breaking through the roof of a dark cave in which they've been trapped - and discovering daylight, sunshine, love, life and laughter.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Hearts Cry 21 Jun 2013

I am not really a person who reads poetry but I really loved Lucy Mills previous book so thought I would try this one. I am really glad I did. THis book is not just poetry it is a hearts cry. There is real emotion in the words and they draw you to a place deep within yourself and closer to God. I particularly liked A Quiet Place which is about the business of our lives and taking to to spend quietly with God. This really spoke to me as modern life can often be frantic. I would highly recommend this book to all Christians. It is one which you will return to again and again in your times of meditation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Encouraging 20 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There comes a time when the writing itself is a prayer - a sequence of messages left for God, perhaps to be read when the house is left or when God remembers to read what has been written in the dark.

This is an encouraging and thoughtful collection of poems with a narrative of hope running throughout.

There are some memorable lines with some genuine pathos, such as:
"and the distant sad tinkling
of 'once upon a time'."
And the whole idea of the poem 'Hide'.

Overall this is an encouraging book of hope (which doesn't ignore the darkness of life). When despair is such a seductive option it is poems like this which are needed.
