I remember 'Out' when it was first broadcast; it was fabulous then and it's still fabulous now. The acting is uniformly superb and the dialogue is wonderful. There are so many great one-liners and they spat and spewed out with great conviction by the cast. Above all though, this serial has one of the greatest ever TV characters in Frank Ross (as played by the late and greatly lamented Tom Bell). Frank is seething with his desire for revenge on those who put him away for 'seven years of life' and Tom Bell invests him with a pent-up, twitching, barely suppressed rage that is amazing to see. For goodness sake do yourself a favour and buy this DVD!

Great piece of 1970's TV. Stands up well against today's drama if you accept that people really did dress like that in 1978! Tom Bell is superb, and the supporting cast is full of faces that you recognise but can't quite put a name to! Look out for a VERY young Linda Robson (Birds of a Feather). Five hours of bliss!!

Great to watch this after 25 or so years and it has stood the test of time. Tom Bell is terrific in the lead role with an ice-cold menacing presence as he searches for the grass that put him away for 8 years. Pity we don't get drama like this on TV anymore.
