This album is a fantastic mixture of irish pipes, rock and soul!!
A few of the songs are real foot stomping stuff, whilst the others are perfect to chill to...well done Davey Spillane and his band xx

Davy Spillane is the best piper of his generation, the album is a great intro to his skills as an innovative piper and composer. Simply the best.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Irish folk/jazz/rock/etc. fusion disc - NOT for PURISTS! 17 Oct 2010
By Shemp-Masta-Flash - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
"Out of the Air" is NOT TRADITIONAL IRISH FOLK MUSIC! While it's firmly BASED IN Irish folk, Davy Spillane combines it with jazz and even touches of blues and rock. The late (and legendary) Irish blues-rock guitarist RORY GALLAGHER plays on THREE songs! If you don't mind (or even like) when musicians mix-it-up genre-wise AND you like Irish music, you may want to give this a shot. (Also: If you like John Surman, early '70s Return To Forever, Paul Winter Consort, Oregon, Horslips, early Jethro Tull, etc.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Nice Album 20 Jan 2013
By C. Weinhaus - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I have several of Davy Spillane's albums. Love the haunting melodies that bring to mind the spare landscape of the Highlands. Davy is a talented musician and this is good, relaxing mood music.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I wanted 28 May 2009
By Steve DeWitt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
If you're looking for rousing Irish Bagpipe music, this ain't it. It's more your average Irish reel band music. Don't care for it.
