Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

It's only just over a decade since Louis Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzales first collaborated under the Masters moniker, but in dance music that constitutes a life's work. Strange then perhaps, with a suitably long list of accolades under their belt, that the duo should choose 2002 to release an album (their third) titled Our Time is Coming. As we all know, their time came with the onslaught of "US garage"--and never stopped coming as far as house-heads the world over are concerned. And fear not, there are few surprises here, just plenty of the quality tunage you'd expect. The soca soaked "Work", swoon-some strains of "Latin Lover" and Afro-beats of "Expensive", MAW's tribute to Fela Kuti, are all familiar friends, while the remaining 12 tracks make for unadulterated toe-tapping, head-nodding pleasure. --Ruby Tuesday

HOUSE AT ITS BEST 26 Mar 2002
By LG
Format:Audio CD
Masters at Work are top of the table when it comes to producing. This album is an excellent blend of modern house music with that 80's US vibe, which we love so much! If you love your soulful, guitar strutting and vocal house then you'll not find better than this album. Yet again Kenny and Louie produce absolute quality, that you'll be humming and sing all day, and all nightlong.

Kenny and Louie are responsible for some of the finest soulful dance music ever made. Both have a serious love of all forms of quality black music from Latin to Jazz to House to Hip-Hop. Hear either of them DJ and this becomes pretty obvious.

This album marks few departures from their tried and tested soulful house sound but if it aint broke don't fix it! Highlights are plentiful. 'Like A Butterfly' feat Patti Austin is euphoric vocal house heaven. There are also fine male vocal tracks featuring Roy Ayres and James Ingram and the faithful tribute to Fela Kuti feat Wunmi is is Afrobeat gold. The ragga-house hybrid of 'Work' is not typical MAW but great nontheless. The album finishes with a touching message from an MAW fan who avoided death at the World Trade Centre as she was late for work listening to one of Kenny's tracks.

Anyone vaguely interested in soulful house music should own this album but newcomers should look for the MAW back catalogue to be found on their 2 10th anniversary box sets. Long live MAW.

What can I say about this, fell in love with this album, backfired track is a classic, India and Patty Austin have beautiful vocals, it's just a shame they don't go in the studio and continue this type of production together, they create a cool fusion off classic tunes, more please
