Guess what? "Contact with Barbelith is a reminder that none of us is really alone, that there is a cosmic essence of love out there, tying us all together." Sorry, but I just had to blurt it out. That's got to be just about the best news ever, hasn't it?
But what's this? "Looking at the red fiction tank in the future year of 2005 makes me a bit sad. I wish that we had Sky and could float around in this crazy environment, like Robin does." Never mind that! There's a cosmic essence etc., tying us blah, blah, blah.
Seriously though, why bother with 'Anarchy For The Masses: The Disinformation Guide To The Invisibles' anymore now that we have this offering which follows the same issue-by-issue format but without it's predecessors profusion of often obscure, actual information about the Invisibles' text and it's esteemed creators?

Essential 21 Jan 2011
By Brendan Davis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I've read The Invisibles more than a half dozen times. Though repeat readings have always furthered my understanding of the series, I've always had the nagging urge I wasn't quite getting something.

I had no idea.

Unlike most companion pieces, this book doesn't just graze the surface of themes and ideas. I'd go so far as to say this book is essential reading. It covers ideas and concepts in the series I didn't even know were there. It clarifies the Supercontext, John-A-Dreams, and reveales subtext I completely missed out on. It even made me love the third volume. Until I read this book I always felt the third volume was slightly pretentious, and an unsatisfying conclusion. Now I know otherwise.

Above all else, this was a pleasure to read. It's written in an accessible and conversational style that makes you want to read just one more chapter before going to bed. If you love The Invisibles, buy this book. Even if you don't agree with all of the interpretations, it will force you to think. Just like The Invisibles.

Great Guide to a Complex Series 18 Jan 2011
By Julian Darius - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Everybody knows this is a difficult series. Patrick Meaney walks the reader through it, opening up possibilities. Right from the introduction, Meaney explains a bunch of complex concepts in simple language, then uses those as he walks through the series. The icing on the cake is a LONG interview with Morrison that sheds light on the series. Highly recommended!

Meaney's also the director of Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods.

Fantastic purchase 28 Dec 2011
By Janie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
If you are a fan of Grant Morrison or the Invisibles it is integral that you pick this up.

It delves into nuisances that are often overlooked by a passive reader and clarifies material that have murky meanings.

Plus, as a fan of his documentary, the stills from Meaney's documentary Grant Morrison: Talking with Gods are an especially great addition to this book. Must check out!
