Wow, thats the first thing I said when I saw this case but don't let me get ahead of myself. Fisrt off for those who don't know Otterbox make in my opinion the best solid cases for your devises be it an iPhone, blackberry or the iPad. When I first got my iPad I saw the Otterbox reviews on YouTube and it looked amazing but a little expensive for my first case so I left it and went for a feather style case to cover the back only on the iPad only without adding size. Great iPad looked awesome and the back was protected, then my daughter started to use my pad ! She is three and as small children can sometimes be a little heavy handed I returned to look at the Otterbox again. I saw Amazon doing the defender at this amazing price I couldn't refuse. Now to the case itself, it's sooooo tough it is a two part polycarbonate plastic shell incased in a thick smooth finish silicon cover that is very very strong. On top of this it comes with a screen shield that is so easy to apply my little girl could do it but you also get the stand that doubles as another protective cover for the front of the iPad so the whole thing is encased in what I can only describe as batman armour for your pad. Once this thing is one you ain't gonna want to take it off it makes the iPad look very cool and more that that it gives me as the use piece of mind that my I device is fully protected from pretty much everything .
So to finish up if you have just got an iPad and spent a lot of money don't be dumb get the case it deserves and protect it as it should be get the Otterbox defender for iPad.

Yes it looks like Batmans ipad, but it does NOT work well with ipad 2. Otterbox say that it will fit an ipad 2 and it does. Theres just no hole for the rear camera and you cant really work any of the buttons. I just wasted my money on bad advice. I will have to spend more on a better fitting case.

This casing provided maximum protection that you can offer for an Ipad . The case consist of 3 layers of protection ( make it 4 if you included the hard shell stand ) and come with a look that is as cool as a batman gadget. The rubber surface feel nice to touch and provide more grip for you to hold your Ipad . All the button are accessible and it come with it's own screen protector . The only downside to look out will be the mass of the case and the way to access the 30-pin. It is not recommended for those who want to keep their Ipad as light as possible . As for the 30 pin access , you will have to open the lid at the bottom side of the case , but this will expose the lower part of you Ipad to scratches and dust. However, this lid will allow you to use the Ipad dock stand with no problem at all. I will recommended to buy a screen protector, trim it down in size and stick it to the exposed part of the Ipad when the lid is removed , or don't remove the lid .
