I purchased 2 of these cases so my kids could watch their ipad minis in the back of the car, with them secured to the headrest. Both ipad minis have the Otterbox defender case which these are designed to be used with.

These are good, but...you can only mount the elasticated strap that goes around the headrest in the vertical position, not horizontally across as shown in the picture, as the back does not rotate. Therefore, with the circumference of the headrest which the strap needs to go around being shorter then if it went around horizontally, the strap provided is far too long and you nearly cant match the velcro sides up to secure it around the headrest - bearing in mind this needs to be a pretty tight fit to secure it and the strap is elasticated also. As a resuly the ipad wobbles around and slips down (but I don't think it would fall off compleyely, just annoying you keep having to push it up again, as its not secure)....needs a design change in my opinon.

Another thing to note is that that you must have the 'accessory kit' to have the headrest/leg mounting strap. Another lisiting on Amazon for the same item but without the accessory kit included shows a picture of a tablet mounted to a head rest - this is misleading, as you cant do this without the additional kit.

Seen these at work.managers using them on iPads for going around building site good protection all round, also comes with a harness so you can put it over your shoulder. If you have an ipad and take it out side for any reason this is a must, money we'll spent and cheaper than buying a new ipad if you drop it.

Good but blocks the Rear Camera on my Samsung Galaxy tab 3 7". Not sure if it would do the same on an apple.

This grip is amazing, I use it everyday at work, the accessories bag is neat but I won't use it much, however it's best to have it and rarely use it than need it and not have it.

Effective for field use 19 May 2014

I use my ipad mini for work and this thing has saved me lots of space and weight. It does a great job of securing the ipad and I have no fear of it coming undone. I think the bag is a bit pointless and it's basically dead weight, there's nothing of use it can hold and just kinda dangles. I typically hang it around my neck except when I am on my bicycle I sling it over my shoulder. My only concern is the durability of the elastic, so I may post a follow up review if it fails but it's held up so far after 2 months of heavy use. Let me also add that it works with BOTH the Otterbox Defender and the Griffin Survivor case.

I love this device, it fits my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 well with one exception. When you use the Utility Latch II it covers the rear facing camera. This is the reason I only gave it 4 stars.

update 6/27/15:I've downgraded my rating by one star:

One of the straps has broken . . . so now I'm not sure about how to fix or . . . not sure it is worth re-ordering . . . It is handy, but still needs some work . . . sigh

posted some time in the last six months or so and about six months after I bought case:

I've found this quite useful. It is NOT perfect, but very handy.

The pros: Makes it easy to keep track of iPad when it isn't put away.
The hand strap is useful and useful - at least once in a while
The accessory bag is good - I keep some business cards and money in it.
I've had it about 6 months - shows some wear, but works fine
You can carry iPad around your neck for a relatively extended time.
The strap can be looped around something else in a cavernous bag to find more easily/quickly
Really useful when playing tourist/photographer

The cons: iPad has fallen out of case a couple of times. Now I make sure to check/adjust straps if I'm carrying it more than a few steps "in the wild".
The accessory bag can help sorta prop up the iPad for better viewing, but it doesn't do a very good job of it - wrong angle and not enough
iPad CAN be carried around your neck, but it is heavy enough that your neck is really going to notice after a block or so

PRO and CON: I've gotten quite a few comments from friends, acquaintances and strangers - almost all positive. A couple of people have asked me if I mind if they take my picture with the iPad hanging around my neck. I assume it is because I'm so good looking and, yet, nerdy, too, with my cool ipad. (Realistically, it is more likely, "Can you believe how stupid and tech-obsessed this woman is?")

Makes your iPad really visible, including to thieves, and other people up to no good. Stealing something from someone that is connected by a sturdy strap around their neck would not be super easy. OTOH, might make you more obvious target for armed robbery - NOT a good thing, to be obvious.

I recommend . . . with some relatively minor quibbles.

Another quality and excellent Otterbox product! 9 Dec. 2013

We had a hard time searching for one of these for our original iPad - most of the products out now fit only iPad 2-4. Although this is a universal tablet holder, it works great. The elastic that holds the edges of the tablet is stretched a bit more than I'm comfortable with and I'm waiting to see how long it'll last before it rips (the only reason I have it 4-rating). But otherwise, its another solid OtterBox product. Fits comfortably on your hand with the hand strap and includes a neck/shoulder strap (in the small cubby attached to it). Works great and is almost identical what you'll see some people at sporting events/stores using to enter customer data into a tablet.
