Product Description

Product Description

Something strange is happening in Houston and its rural suburb, Trumbull. It starts with the bizarre mutilation of a farmer's cow, sparking rumors of UFO sightings and alien visitations. It's all an annoyance for the police, who would prefer to focus on the recent murders in the area. Mike Walsh is a journalist with a nagging editor and a troubled marriage who finds himself inexorably drawn into the deeper story creeping up on all who dare get close enough: a grizzled small town police captain, a depressed journalist, a disillusioned pastor, and a little old man. They are unlikely allies against the otherworld.

2.0 out of 5 stars Can't go any further 22 Feb 2014

Persevered to 23%.
Promising start....then slowed, tortuous, 2-dimensional characters, churchy tedium; and then just ham. Sorry...disappointing.
Four more words required...but they fail me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great christian thriller 28 Nov 2013

Best christian thriller I've read. Although it took me a while to get into I could not put it down after a few chapters in. Particularly like the character Graham who is a bit cantankerous but a great prayer warrior. Most memorable bit to take away was "be assured" God is in control.

Rather slow to start but when it does get going, for me about a third of the way in, it was a very enjoyable read. It certainly makes you think about the spiritual world and the reality and dangers of dabbling with the occult.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read 7 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase gripping narrative style...well drawn characters...atmosphere that sometimes makes ya wanna go switch the light on and an interesting take on the UFO, alien phenomena.....I thoroughly enjoyed going on the ride that Jared took me on...what's more not everything was sweet American pie and the book had some heart wrenching moments...Yes as a Christian writer Jared is not afraid to paint the book in the colour of his what! It's the way he did it that makes the difference. A brilliant cross between Frank Peretti and Eric Wilsons "Dark to Mortal Eyes" (which is superb by the way). A thoroughly great read with a brilliant way of using the opening paragraph (you'll see what I mean when you read it). Enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars OK 30 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This story of aliens, UFOs and dead cows in small-town America turns out to be a reflection on what Christians will clearly recognise as the demonic. It did hold my attention, perhaps in part because of the writing style which interspersed storylines, making the reader want to continue to read. However, I don't particularly like the style which, after a time, becomes a little frustrating - especially because you know what the writer is trying to do with this technique. I wouldn't buy this book but it did fill a couple of hours!

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in return for a fair review.
