Product Description

They say "What you don't know, can't hurt you."
Try telling that to the victims of the Storyteller.
Precisely what Romy is investigating for her newspaper. Because keeping intended victims alive is a bloomin' nightmare!
The Storyteller Web site: a revenge story writing service that allows a person to finally put their grudge to rest, watching their enemy come to a very sticky end - in print. Like the Web ad says: "Don't get mad, get even. Literally!"
The trouble is, every story written is coming true. Word for word.
How is that possible?
Romy is determined to find out. With a little help from Adam, the paper's gorgeous, albeit, strange photographer; and a lot of help from her newly discovered gypsy family, plus the very attractive Lucas.
Where the hell have they been for the last twenty years?
Supernatural beings that live among us. Known as Otherkind, most of them seem bent on mankind's extinction. Talk about the scoop of the century!
But Romy can't think about that right now. She's got to find the elusive Storyteller because the story he's now writing is hers...

More About the Author

Born in Spain as Mariajose Romero Collado, Mia Romero thought it best to shorten her name so readers wouldn't have such a hard time asking for her books! Immigrating to the U.K. at the age of four, her love of stories began the moment she picked up a 'Rupert, the Bear' book and still shows no sign of waning. Educated in London and New York she is an avid fan of both countries & cultures.

Mia's debut novel, Otherkind, with its British characters, landscapes and humour, as well as new supernatural beings, was inspired by her love of American books and shows, and her desire to help build the ever-growing British supernatural & paranormal fiction industry.

This has every ingredient for the perfect book recipe - some paranormal activity, a touch of intrigue, a pinch of romance and enough strange beings to put Supernatural to shame!

The characters are well written and endearing. Our heroine, journalist Romy, is somewhat reluctantly thrown in at the deep end and quite literally attacked from all sides when she stumbles upon a story that puts the lives of her and her dearest friends, not to mention her new-found family in imminent danger. Colleague Adam tags along to investigate the story, providing Romy with a bit of respite in the form of eye candy! But is Adam more involved than he initially appears?

I won't give anything away, but suffice to say that this book kept me guessing till the very end. I literally could not put it down and read it in 2 sittings, only broken by some much-needed sleep. The story builds deliciously with each chapter a pleasure to read.

One of the many things I love about this book is how well it has been written. It's one of only a handful of the 100 I've read over the past year that have not let themselves down with poor vocabulary and grammar. This attention to detail sets this novel apart from its peers, and I cannot wait for the second Otherkind instalment.

In a word - brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous read 11 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book. I have read various adventure/supernatural books before and this is one of the best I have come across. The characters are great, and the situations believably real. The story romps along and I just wanted to keep on reading to find out what happened next.

The story centres around a young journalist who is looking into strange animal attacks on people, that are linked to a storytelling website. The Otherkind are not your run-of-the-mill vampires and werewolves. They are beings that can suck the water out of you, use animal limbs to replace their worn out arms and legs and more. They have great names likes Hyders, Sloshers, Trollers and Steins. If you want to know more, read the book!

I am looking forward to the second and third book. Excellent!

A fantastic book. Got it yesterday and I couldn't stop reading! A great story, with some of everything. Mystery, paranormal, and just a smidge of romance, written with a touch of Brit com. Easy to get into the story - and once you do, you don't want to stop reading. I can't wait for her next one!
