Paul Young is one of Britain s most fondly regarded and respected vocalists, who has sold millions of records across a prolific career dating back to the 1970s. After spells with The Streetband and The Q-Tips, he made his commercial breakthrough with his charttopping, million-selling solo debut in 1983, No Parlez. Issued in 1990, Other Voices was Paul s fourth solo album. It was certified Gold in the UK, peaking at #4 with sales of over 100,000 while also troubling the charts in Germany, Sweden and New Zealand. The album spawned several singles: Softly Whispering I Love You (UK #21), Heaven Can Wait (UK #71), Calling You (UK #57) and Oh Girl" (UK #25, U.S. #8). The huge Stateside success of the Chi-Lites cover Oh Girl led to significant sales of Other Voices in the USA. The rest of the album mixed soul, pop and jazz stylings with a ballsy version of Free s A Little Bit Of Love . Other Voices is widely regarded as a return-to-form for Paul Young after the muted response to 1986 s Between Two Fires. Guests included Stevie Wonder, Nile Rodgers, Steve Winwood, Dave Gilmour, Pete Wingfield and Chaka Khan. This remastered deluxe edition (drawn from the original tapes) adds a bonus disc of non-album tracks which appeared on various singles. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.
