This bestseller by Sidney Sheldon is beautifully brought to life by Susan Sarandon, John Beck , Ralf Vallone and Marie-France Pisier in this gripping tale of war, love, betrayal, revenge and abuse of power. The movie was a good example of the futility of vengeance and how we can get caught in the web of our own deceit and revenge. Set against the backdrop of WW11, Larry Douglas (John Beck) and French femme fate Noelle Page(Marie Pisier) met and dated while he was in Paris and he promised to marry her. He returns to America and married another woman Catherine Alexander (Susan Sarandon). In a twist of fate Noelle page became the mistress of a powerful and mean Greek Multi-millionaire, her quest for revenge leads to betrayal, murderous intent and the ultimate vengeance.

One of the best movies I have seen. Great story line (murder, deceit,love, and a twist in the tail), well acted and produced. Sadly can't get UK version, had to watch this on computer

What great fun this movie is! Sold as "A romance of passion and power" this is a wonderfully trashy film, based on a trashy novel, but my word it works! Great cast, great sets and beautiful locations support an epic tale which goes on for hours, quite literally. 2 hours and 45 minutes to be precise. John Beck and Mari-France Pisier are great in the leads but it's Susan Sarandon who steals the honours as a women who suffers but I won't spoil it for you, by telling you how. Apart from one, very frank sex scene involving ice cubes (!) this could have been a Joan Crawford or Bette Davis's movie. I suggest you see it on your own, on a wet Sunday evening, with no family or friends anywhere in sight and a box of chocolates close at hand. What a guilty pleasure you have in store.
