I've heard the new album, and I am truly in love with it. Although I'd not heard of several of the songs before, the Erasure touch has certainly turned them into Erasure classics. The first single, Solsbury Hill, should be a triumpant return to the main stream. The only complaint I have is the CD's length. So many of the older songs were short and, even at 12 tracks, the CD only uses about 40 minutes worth of time. This release could've easily seen 8 more tracks. The good news is that they're already at work on the next album of new Erasure material. Long live Erasure! And may Other People's Songs be a huge success!

Having heard the album I have to say its not half bad..........
It takes a minute to get your head around the paticular style and feel Erasure bring to the songs as most are classics that we have come to recognise in their own right. Many bands can't get away with completly chaning classic tunes but Erasure do it very well.
Salsbury Hill will do very well in its own right and is one of the best tracks on the album, although Come Up and See Me (Make Me Smile) is typical Erasure pop and sounds great.
The only negatives for this album is the length, Its only around 40 minutes long as most classic old tracks are around 3 minutes long. Having said that you can always do to much so at least this album leaves you looking for more as opposed to waiting for the end.
In short, a poppy, happy, catchy album...Typical Erasure.

Being an Erasure fan is usually a thing people keep secret. A lot of people like to think of them as an unfashionable throwback to the 80's and are surprised to hear that they are still going strong. But there are more "closet" fans out there than would care to admit and I think this is the album to bring them out of the woodwork.
Erasure in my opinion define perfectly crafted pop. They know what makes people tap their feet, know what chorus will stay in people's heads and know how to put people in touch with their camp, glitter and tinsel wearing side.
"Other People's Songs" brings this to a head by combining Andy Bell's amazing vocal dexterity, Vince Clark's collection of electronic noises and an amazingly well chosen, if a little diverse, collection of pop classics.
The heavily electronic nature of the album may not to be to everyone's taste, but I suspect those people are perhaps a little serious minded and not open to the fun of these interpretations.
At the moment, my favourite has got to be Cockney Rebel's "Come up and see me (make me smile)". Andy's vocal style on the track is absolutely filthy - full of suggestion and smut!

whats the point?
