This film is a pure socialism verses capitalism parable.
Danny Devito is the hard nosed corporate raider, Larry the Liquidator, he just oozes sleaze but with an undertone of real class.
Gregory Peck is the sentimental manager of the target corporation, he is all heart but is like King Canute trying to hold back the tide.
Penelope Ann Miller is the glamourous defence lawyer who provides the love interest and pulls the rabbit out of the hat at the end.
The story is simple but strong enough to retain your interest. The acting is good, with excellent interplay between Devito and Miller. Danny Devito's speech at the end is fantastic.
I suspect one's enjoyment of this film is down to your political leanings, if you are a bleeding heart, left wing, labour sympathiser you aren't going to enjoy this film but if you like your "capitalist steak" oozing blood, you'll love it.
