This oil works really really well. Just fitted a solid walnut worktop. I oiled it five times with the Danish oil I bought from the manufacturer but it still seemed very dry to me. We have used Danish oil in the past and it has worked ok but not this time. I have used Osmo once and, what a difference! It looks lovely and rich now, no longer dry and is far better at repelling water. Highly recommended - it will be the only oil we use in the future

I have left my review for several weeks after use to see how this product worked over time.

To start - you do need some sort of lint free cloths. I also wore rubber gloves as the product is a bit sticky and odorous. It's thicker than oil in consistency and is opaque but dries clear with a subtle sheen. I didn't sand down the worktops before I used it - just gave them a clean and allowed to dry. I poured the product onto the cloth and then worked along the grain of the worktop in one direction. Top up the product on the cloth as you need it.

The product smells like a slightly less odorous paint which lasted maybe a few days but was not overpowering but would suggest that you do use in warm/dry weather where you can have the windows open.

My worktops were not in bad condition - except for a bit of fading near to the sink. I used three coats over three days. The product is just a bit tacky after use but I would suggest that you don't put anything on it until completely dry.

Anyway - three coats brought up the worktops very nicely - just enriching the natural colour rather than changing it. It left a slight sheen which I now notice has an element of water repellancy.

The only downside is that where I have left washing detergent bottles down on the worktop, there is now a faded/bleached type of mark from drips from the bottle. This would probably come out with a few more remedial treatments. But probably something just to be aware of.

Overall, after nearly three months, I would rate this product. It was easy and relatively fuss free to use. Don't bother trying to wash the cloths, the product just doesn't wash out that well and it doesn't seem to be worth the hassle.

I have more than half the cannister of product left after three coats for an area of 7sq m.

Oh my goodness! Seriously Osmo oil,has changed my life - thought I had made a huge error of judgement when I picked wooded worktops for my new kitchen 3 years ago. Lovely to look at but hard work - I was having to sand and oil nearly every month any wet spills leaving their mark. Then someone recommended Osmo oil. Wow I put 2 coats on and magic - no marks - water sits on top until wiped off - I think once a year oiling will now be sufficient . I am delighted w itch this product

Does what it says on the tin! Expensive but very good finish. Goes on well. Have used other (Ronseal) oils before and this one, so far, this one way exceeds. Recommended.

Easy to apply and works a treat. I treated my ikea worktops (using a lint free cloth) on 4 consecutive evenings before I went to bed and the oil was absorbed overnight so no sticky surface the following morning. After 4 treatments my worktops are now impervious to food spills, red wine, coffee stains. Highly recommended.

I wasn't blown away by this. It does the job but the design of the container could certainly be improved because it's hard to decant without spilling onto the top of the tin. I have found that it sometimes streaks when I apply it so I have to be careful to apply a very thin amount. But that said it has been taking good care of my wooden kitchen benches. Be aware that if you're buying this for use on kitchen benches you really need to be able to leave the room very well ventilated over night because the oil does have quite a potent smell. If you can't leave your kitchen windows/door open overnight (ie due to security etc..) you may find that this product is difficult to use.

Purchased when a certain other product lets just say "didn't do what it said on the tin" - 2 coats of Osmo have brought an excellent finish, slightly matt, but not rough and dry feeling, which repels water and does not mark when rubber footed appliances are placed on the worktop (which the "other" product did, after 5 coats!)
