3.0 out of 5 stars Just the basics 12 Jan 2013

While the book was informative it really only scratched the surface. I certainly think that more details could have been included. This book is best suited for someone who has never fished at all and has decided to pick up saltwater fly fishing. That being said, In my experience there are very few if any who go straight for saltwater fly fishing without having tried some other kind of fishing.
4.0 out of 5 stars fly fishing tips 24 May 2013

I like the layout of this book of identifying each tip and explaining it separately. One can skim over the very basic and common sense parts and focus on equipment, technique or others of interest. It was also good to find a book that wasn't about fishing in the 60's although many tips have been repeated.

I have found that no matter the equipment one can catch fish if you focus on stealth, knowledge of species and their environment in the water and above.

Good book to have in anyone's library.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needed More Info 10 July 2011
By WilliamBuckley - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am definitely a beginner. I just bought my rod and reel and started practicing. I bought this book to get some needed information on my new sport. Although I liked the book, I thought it needed to be more specific. I found the author's voice was speaking to someone with more knowledge than me. I felt that each chapter could have been filled with more information. I was left with the feeling of "wait I still don't get it" after each chapter. I will read through it again, hopefully some more information sinks in.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very basic, indeed 20 Jun 2012

As the title implies....this book is really for an absolute beginner - someone who has not done any flyfishing. I'm a fairly experienced trout fisherman with no saltwater experience, but this book was far too basic for me. Definitely for a complete novice.
