Lame book, I do not recommend it. The author gives his opinions so blatantly, it's not the kind of study you're mislead to believe. I wanted insights to Orson Welle's films, preferable the forgotten, underrated ones after CITIZEN KANE. They're all here, but so are one-dimensional opinions about the films, which takes away from any in-depth study of them. One thing that caught me was how THE STRANGER, which I consider brilliant with some great camera work, was given a 2 out of 5 rating. Is this a movie review book or a study of films? Anyone wanting insight, best go somewhere else. Also, the author gives a very long storyline of each film, which anyone can do. And other than that, this book is one man's opinion on what movies he likes and doesn't like, not a study on a great filmmaker. If you want a really good book that, alas, isn't on Kindle but you can order the book, the actual book, check out THIS IS ORSON WELLES, an interview between Peter Bogdanovich and Orson Welles, covering all his work. Welles is very critical about his own films, more than he compliments them, but you get history there, not bitter bias and rambling summaries. Too bad, I wasted my money, but thankfully, not too much.
