Origins is the first book in the Demonkin series, and it gets off to a roaring good start, and promises the delights of a brand new and brilliant series.
Being different is not always good, especially when your food source is blood. Ashlyn is a seventeen year old girl, whose life gets turned upside down, when her beloved aunt is unexpectedly killed in a car crash. Ever since she came to full maturity and stopped growing at age seven, Ashlyn has hidden in her aunts home. But with no birth certificate or identity, she’s suddenly thrust into the world and lands herself into a world of trouble. Being taken into custody by the FBI turns Ashlyn’s life around, especially when instead of arresting her they offer her a job instead.
Suddenly life becomes interesting in a whole different way. After years of solitary Ashley gains a friend in her partner. But with a crazy vampire on the loose and bodies turning up, Ashley needs to stop the killer fast, and find out just how powerful she really is.

Origins is one of those books you don't want to put down. I've read it more than once, and love it more each time. Sean Hayden has a knack for drawing you in and keeping the action going.
With wonderfully developed characters and a unique twist on vampires this story is a must read for young and old, boy or girl. The main character Ashlyn Thorn pulls you into her life as she learns about herself; who she is, what she is. Her character grows, makes mistakes and learns. The other characters, vampires, elves, weres fill the story with everything you need. I can't decide which is my favorite and look forward to seeing more of them all. Origins is a riveting story you don't want to miss.
