The X Men films have historically had excellent scores, with John Ottman's
X2, and John Powell's
X-Men: The Last Stand both setting the bar high for Harry Gregson-Williams. X-Men Origins doesn't fail to deliver. HWG wrote a brilliant theme for Wolverine, which I think is both catchy and epic sounding, everything a good superhero theme should be. The love theme is also pleasant but not groundbreaking. There is the usual HWG mix of orchestra and electronics, both of which compliment themselves well in this release. The recording quality is clear and crisp and the album flows well. Although I thought the film itself was below par, I don't think HGW could have written a better score to accompany it. If you like HGW, you will certainly enjoy this.
