Does this set contain the original 1960s episodes or the new remastered ones? Looking at the artwork I would guess the latter, but there is no info given about it either way

They're remastered.

Does that mean the versions which have new CGI shots - the Enterprise orbiting planets, emerging from nebulas, planetscapes and so on?

If so this set would seem to be good value at the moment, compared to buying the three series box sets separately, which would come to close to £60. I understand some people have been complaining about the cheap packaging for this set, but for that sort of saving it would be worth putting up with. I have the Star Trek Enterprise set, which is also packaged in cardboard, and I can't see much problem with it. You just have to be careful when you take the discs out and put them back; but surely you would be anyway?
