Zippo was founded in Bradford, Pennsylvania in 1932 when George G. Blaisdell decided to create a lighter that would look good and be easy to use. Blaisdell obtained the rights for an Austrian windproof lighter with a removable top, and re-designed it to his own requirements. He made the case rectangular and attached the lid to the bottom with a welded hinge, and surrounded the wick with a windhood. Fascinated by another recent invention, the zipper, Blaisdell called his new lighter "Zippo", and backed it with a Lifetime Guarantee. The Zippo windproof pocket lighter is one of the most collectable in the world.

There was one question that I wanted answered: "The lighter has two different designs shown, which one would I revive?"
I can say you revive the design that features two A spade icons across its body on lid and base, NOT the one featuring 4 A spade icons only on the base.

I bought this zippo on holiday and was happy with it until I got it home. After about a week of having it ON IT'S OWN in my pocket(Nothing to scratch it) the aces started disappearing and eventually the big one too. This annoyed me and I ended up selling it , because you basically buy a zippo for the design. And by inevitably losing the paint this zippo becomes nothing more than a 'High polish chrome zippo' which you could get for about half the price. So if you don't care about the design, just get a plain zippo. But if you do like I did, then know that the paint is gonna come off and leave you having paid for a design that lasted about a week. This is my second zippo , so I don't know if paint is like this for all or just this design.

zippo lighter lucky ace
I was reading though the other reviews and I saw that the ace on the front of my zippo was not the only one rubbing off, but the delivery was fast, and money well spent
