5.0 out of 5 stars A haunting, haunted story, 21 Jul 2008
Ken Hill's "Phantom" is a loving blend of tragic romance and memorable music. Lloyd Webber's version may be better known, but Ken Hill's is the first musical adaptation of Gaston Leroux' novel from 1905. It is grand opera, romance and horror, served to the audience in a musical showcase featuring Bizet, Offenbach, Gounod and Verdi, among others.

My favourite song is the poignant and passionate "While floating high above," full of longing and sadness. The music is from Bizet's "Pearlfishers".

I'd warmly recommend this CD to anyone interested in story of The Phantom of the Opera, or classical music.
