Product Description

Product Description

Original Morris Minor is the essential companion to these delightful cars. Its aim is to reveal, in words and color photographs, how the many versions of the Minor - from early 'low-headlamp' 918cc saloon to late 1098cc traveler - altered in detail through the course of production. An amazing number of specification changes, large and small, occurred over the years. The completely authentic specification which the most discerning enthusiasts now demand can be elusive because so many Minors have been altered over the years, often by impecunious owners trying simply to keep aging cars on the road for minimum cost. But help is at hand in Original Morris Minor for all owners, restorers and enthusiasts who want a bible on originality. Drawing from factory production records, parts lists and catalogs, as well as the accumulated knowledge of respected restorers and dedicated enthusiasts, this book provides the most exhaustive production survey of the Morris Minor ever published. Accompanying the authoritative text are over 250 specially commissioned color photographs showing every permutation of Morris Minor specification in remarkable detail.

Quite a nice book detailing all the different models and specifications. Plenty of nice colour pictures. Good for the restorer who wants to get the specifications of his car right, but not for someone looking for instructions how to restore their Morris (which they could summise from the title) for this I would recomend the "Haynes Restoration Manual, Morris Minor and 1000", a real (dirty) hands-on approach to Morris restoration with plenty of instructional pictures of actual restoration work being done. But back to the "ORIGINAL MORRIS MINOR" book a nice book with plenty of pictures for someone who wants to get the model specifications and details of their car but not an instructional restoration guide.

Let's get one thing out of the way - the superb "Original" books are not practical DIY guides. They tell restorers what they should be looking for when restoring a Morris Minor it if it to be correct. Happily the days of shoving bigger engines and 500 watt sound systems in Minors has gone and everyone knows a correctly restored Minor is what brings in the proper money. This superb book with great photos and wonderful attention to detail will tell you all you need to know. It can be recommended without hesitation.

Great detail, clear pics 23 Mar 2012
By Christopher R. Cowland - Published on Amazon.com
This is a well researched and beautifully illustrated guide for restorers looking for originality. It is not intended to be a repair manual, it provides excellent insight into minor (no pun intended) production changes, and has clear detailed photos of a range of fine examples of the marque. This is a must read for the genuine enthusiast.

Original Morris Minor 1 Feb 2009
By Michael J. Catullo - Published on Amazon.com
This book is not good for someone who wants to do a restoration. It does not provide you with inside information on how to remove parts that you cannot see how they are attached or what sequence to do it by. I Plan on
returning it.
