Format: Audio CD
As the title of this compilation says this is original sound system music from the 1950s namely mostly New Orleans rhythm & blues music.
Great tracks of Dave Bartholomew and Smiley Lewis, instrumentals by Lynn Hope and Joe Lutcher, a Fats Domino track and some real hits make up this decent compilation of tracks that are mostly available on previous compilations of United Artists. An unessential but pleasant reminder of a long gone era.

Fans of ska will love this 16 Aug. 2007
By Mike F. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
By the time you finish with this, you'll have a firm understanding of how ska came to be. Even if you don't care, it's still a smokin' R&B collection.
