5.0 out of 5 stars 80's Pop - 120 Original Hits 30 Dec 2010
By Hutchy
We are entering the second decade of the 21st century and the 1980's started 30 years ago, and not surprisingly, people are now getting nostalgic for the `decade that taste forgot'.

Punk was still twitching in it's death throes and the Mods were back and The New Romantics were beginning to make themselves known.

Electronic music became the norm as the guitar-led groups faded from view.

Having said that, the music was pretty good, as evidenced in this superb collection.

It was a time when the artists were taking themselves a bit too seriously, but the music-buying public weren't.

It's all here, from the quieter moments of Adrian Gurvitz's Classic to the over the top antics of Adam Ant's Prince Charming.

Some old friends also returned to the charts in this decade - like The Four Tops and Dr Hook; and the soul fans were catered for by Soul II Soul and Peabo Bryson & Roberta Flack.

Yes, it was a decade of conflicting styles, but some damn' fine listening - and the very best of the decade is included here.

And for about 6 or 7 pence per track, it's fantastic value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value and interesting track selection 5 Oct 2011

If you get this and the sister Original Hits - 80s CD (no song overlap at all) you have 240 80s hits for less than a tenner.

And they're not all your usual 80s compilation hits either. I've already got quite an extensive music collection and these CDs added loads of songs I didn't already have.

Sounds like some remastering has taken place too, no complaints at all about the sound quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spot the nineties track! 23 May 2010
Another great value-for-money compilation from EMI. However, as with one of the previous compilations (Original Hits - Eighties) a nineties track, in this case Boy George's cover of The Crying Game, has managed to find its way into the line-up - not that it detracts too much from the album, though. Recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars such a waste of money ! 6 Nov 2011
By steve
I bought this CD to get a good selection of songs from the 80s.
It is filled with obscure songs. None of the more well-known songs are present, in fact we barely recognise any of the songs ! They are obscure not-very-well-known songs.

I cannot believe we wasted our money on this CD. The CD title is really misleading.
