5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite CD 9 April 2013
By ranger
Format:Audio CD
This is simply the top Everly Brothers' CD on the top record label (Ace).

From a British standpoint, this really is the best way to hear an act like the Everlys, and it would be wonderful if similar releases (which Ace have done for Fats Domino and Little Richard) were also done for Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran etc.

This is the way the youth of the 50s heard this music, via 'Melody Bars' in Department Stores, Coffee Bar jukeboxes, and/or at home on a Dansette!

If the house was burning all around me, it would be this CD that I would grab before escaping.

5.0 out of 5 stars Understand American influence on 60s Britain 24 Feb 2005
By thisisgibbie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Phil and Don were a huge influence on British pop in the late 50s and through the 60s.

If you want a lineage of the vocal qualities of the Liverpool and London recordings from 60 - 67, these Nashville sounds are the parents. "Since you Broke My Heart" is one that was played a lot in Britain, which usually eludes American compilations. Particularly, listen when the brothers contrast in their sweet harmony. You can still here the influence in the music of The Proclaimers.

Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Hits and fine Everly Brothers Originals! 30 July 2006
By Morten Vindberg - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This 22 track compilation covers the Everly Brother's Cadence years (1957-60 ), which is by many regarded as their best and most consistent of their long career.

Many of their best known classic hits like "Bye, Bye, Love", "All I Have to Do is Dream", "Wake Up. Little Susie" and "When Will I Be Loved" come from this period and their all included here. In fact, this CD contains the best of their Cadence recordings; only very few of their best early recordings are missing here.

Besides the well-known hits, great Everly Brothers originals like "Should We Tell Him" and "Since You Broke My Heart" are among the highlights. Very obvious that the Everly Bothers very great inspirators for liverpool bands like the Beatles and especially the Searchers.

Fine informative 8 pages-booklet makes this an even more attractive investment.
