5.0 out of 5 stars Track Listing 26 Mar 2012
By Glenn Cook HALL OF FAME TOP 10 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Saw there was no track listing so I though I would list them.
The set includes the albums "Water Signs", "Shamrock Diaries", "On The Beach", "The Road To Hell" and "Espresso Logic".
Personally I love the tiny cardboard sleeves and if you are new to Chris Rea you really can't go wrong with the price for 5 the same cost of 1 CD?

If you spot any mistakes just add a comment and I will adjust it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Caution - tinkering alert! 4 Aug 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Bought this primarily to replace my CD of "Watersign", that has stopped functioning.

Also because, for some reason, I never got round to upgrading my favourite Chris Rea album "Shamrock Diaries" from LP to CD. I'm really not sure I should have bothered. The recording quality on Shamrock is appalling... the sound keeps dropping out of the right channel. And I preferred the version of "Josephine" on the LP to the inferior version that appears on the CD. Rea has recorded so many versions of the song, on singles and other compilations; he (or the record company) should have left the original album untampered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tremendous value for money 7 Jun 2013
By Sputnik
Format:Audio CD
If you enjoy Chris Rea's work or just like quality, mature, rock music, this collection offers tremendous value for money.
The packaging is plain and simple - with 5 albums in carboard sleeves inside a cardboard outer box. But, so what? This package delivers a great deal of terrific music at a very reasonable price. To start with, it includes 2 absolutely Great albums (On the beach and Road to hell). You only have to look at what other reviewers have to say about those individual albums to know that they are top notch. A huge commercial sucess, and very polished, there's not much more to be said about Road to Hell. While On the Beach is a favourite album of many Chris Rea fans. The other albums all include some stand-out tracks and have a style of their own. Water Sign has a stripped-down sound, while Shamrock diaries features some nice Saxaphone work and has almost a Bruce Springsteen feel to it. For me, the Expresso Logic album was an unexpected treasure. Full of melodic guitar work, and also featuring mandolins, it includes a nice mix of upbeat songs (such as the hit single 'Julia') and more gentle crooners - the beautiful 'Summer love', the bluesy 'stop', and the poignant 'she closed her eyes'. This album has quickly grown to be a favourite of mine. Buy and enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rea reaction 15 May 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Chris Rea seems to get better over the years and looking back at his output was a joy. I'd always liked his big hit singles, but it was good to hear some of his less well-known stuff on these CDs. Money well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy little package. 31 July 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Although I already own all the albums contained in this series, they are on vinyl or in the case of 'Espresso Logic', tape format. Having had a cd player in the car for 5 years now, it's handy listening on the move. (down memory lane) Because of the compact packaging of the series it takes up no room in the car at all. Every one a winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool and clever 22 Jun 2012
By AS
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I always admired Chris Rea, starting from his "Road To Hell" album. This collection is a great opportunity to remember his old hits and listen to less popular songs. If you want to relax in an elegant atmosphere it is the choice for you. And the price for it is simply nothing. If you are in love with somebody who is far away, you should both listen to the same songs from this collection and you will find poetic words to describe what is between and within you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Early Rea - the evolution of the man's music. 6 July 2012
Format:Audio CD
Bought these albums "on spec" as my only knowledge of Chris Rea was his "greatest hits" as played on radio. It was a pleasure to listen to his early stuff then read about his life and recordings on sites such as Wikipedia. I keep thinking that Chris Rea would be fantastic live - some of his stuff sounds over produced and too synthizised for my tastes. Musically, the early radio hits such as Road To Hell are here, but it is some of the strong album tracks that never achieved radio hit status that stand out for me. All in all, a great introduction to the early Rea - I read he has sold in excess of 30 million records world wide, so you know he must be good!
