The first box set of albums, from Caravanerai - Amigos, is the better of the 2 sets but, that said, this is a bargain buy as well.
Varied musical styles abound on these albums but all are high quality rock albums. It took me a while to get around to buying this set after reading the reviews in 'Martin C Strong's Great Rock Discography' but I should have remembered that, unless it's a Greatest Hits collection, Strong always gives a low - mid rating.
Not the best starting point to 'get into' Santana but, all 5 albums, are most definately worth owning. Purchase the first 3 albums, (unfortunately not included in either box set), follow-up with box set 1 and then this one. The Latin influence is lower on these albums, all are more 70's rock orientated with brilliant guitar work through-out. Highlight of the set is Zebop, a forgotten classic.
Don't expect re-runs of the Abraxus album because the style is completely different but once you give them a chance they are a great collection of CD's.
