Along with Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson was probably the biggest selling country artist of the nineties. This Australian package gathers together his first five albums for the Arista label from that period and what fabulous records they are.

Unlike Brooks, Jackson has maintained a honky tonk, neo traditionalist country style and has never been attracted by the lure of the pop country sound that seems to comes out of Nashville on a conveyor belt.

His first album "Here In The Real World" (1989), went double platinum and produced 4 country hit singles including two number ones, the title cut and "I'd Love You All Over Again". It was no suprise when the ACM (Academy Of Country Music), voted Jackson "Top New Male Vocalist" in 1990.

"Don't Rock The Jukebox", went double double platinum and spawned four number one country singles: "Don't Rock The Jukebox", the tear jerking "Someday", the gentle "Dallas" and "Loves Got A Hold On You". The album also produced a number three hit, the mesmerising "Midnight In Montgomery" about a meeting with the ghost of Hank Williams:

"......a drunk man in a cowboy hat took me by surprise

wearing shiny boots and Nudie suit and haunting, haunted eyes"

which also produced a classic music video.

By the time of his third album "A Lot About Livin'" (1993), Jackson had hit the ground running. It has now sold more than six million copies and includes the great number one summer song, "Chattahoochie" and another number one, the riveting, "She's Got The Rhythm And I've Got The Blues". There are three other top ten country singles on the album including a must listen to, honky tonkin' version of the David Lindley classic, "Mercury Blues (from El Rayo X).

in this box set you get the first five Alan Jackson albums in little cardboard cases which is good enough for the price.
Alan Jacksons first album is really good but really short it will whip by with out you even noticing it has the brilliant song Dog River blues which is my favourite from this album. the music he plays is the cornerstone of modern Country I think all the songs are so catchy.

Don't Rock the Jukebox: the Second album is obviously more of exactly the same perfect awesome catchy Country music it has the classic don't rock the jukebox and Dallas clever little ditty with awesome lyrics Loves got a hold on you which quickens the pace a little bit after Midnight in montgomery a Homage too Hank Williams I do believe I also like the Ragtime style song walking the floor over me

Alot about livin and little bout love ( the motorbike album as I call it): see more and more of the same which is excellent this album has some of his more well known songs like Chattahoochie, shes got the ryhthm and I got the blues and mercury blues this album does change things up a little tiny bit as he has started to play blues as well as country.

Who I am : my second fave out of the box: I lovethe country cover of Summer time blues it suits the song quite well and it just a mega awesome song it also has the nice steady paced ballady song Livin on love and the awesome danceable Gone Country this album ends with a few slower numbers before finishing off with "Lets get back to me and you"

Everything I love is my favourite album out of the box because it has more of the songs I knew before I bought a proper album and not just a greatest hits album.
