Product Description

Product Description

Huczynski and Buchanan bring their well-known and successful brand of critical thinking, social science underpinning, and visual appraisal to bear in this comprehensive introduction to organizational behaviour. A wide range of features enable the reader to understand the dynamics of human behaviour at work, and encourage regular reflection on the theory and context of contemporary organizational life.

Organizational Behaviour involves the reader directly, placing you in the position of decision-making and problem-solving manager, inviting you to see the reality behind an organizational image, and encouraging you to make comparisons with well-known scenes in film and literature.

From the Back Cover

From ‘glass ceilings’ to ‘glass cliffs’, ‘redisorganizational strategies’ to ‘spaghetti structures’, integrity testing to learning as ‘the new sex’. The latest edition of this leading text unravels the language, questions, and complexities of individual, group and organizational behaviour.

Huczynski and Buchanan bring their well-known and successful brand of critical thinking, social science underpinning, and visual appraisal to bear in this comprehensive introduction to organizational behaviour. A wide range of features enable you to understand the dynamics of human behaviour at work, and encourage regular reflection on the theory and context of contemporary organizational life.

Among many other questions, the authors ask:

  • Can the relationship between L’Oreal and Bodyshop work?
  • Is corporate social responsibility a strategic imperative or merely a waste of time and money?
  • Why doesn’t innovation spread, and how can organizations become more creative?
  • Why do people take the blame, and not the situation?
  • What can we learn about organizational structure from Harry Potter and Hogwart’s?

Organizational Behaviour involves the reader directly, placing you in the position of decision-making and problem-solving manager, inviting you to see the reality behind an organizational image, and encouraging you to make comparisons with well-known scenes in film and literature.

Andrzej A. Huczynski is Senior Lecturer in Organizational Behaviour at the University of Glasgow, and David A. Buchanan is Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Cranfield University.

5.0 out of 5 stars Organisational Behaviour an introductory text, 17 July 2002
By C. GARY HINKS (PERTHSHIRE United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I referred to this book throughout my MBA. It provides a plethora of information that is clear, concise and a great source of academic referencing. It is also a very readable book, unlike many others that are on MBA reading lists. In summary, if your doing an MBA, or any other Management Course this book is a must!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Provides thorough understanding of Organizational Behaviour, 27 Dec 2004
I and other close friends who purchased this book and its previous editions have been most pleased and consider this a good investment, particularly for anybody who is studying Business at Degree Level. It provides a thorough but easy to understand cover of all aspects that are to be considered when studying the management of organizations and when trying to understand the behavious of organisations.
This book also has a link with a website which continues to try to expand on the knowledge you may have gained from reading the book, and provides tests and glossary's.

A very excellent book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 9 May 2004

I used this book continuously for my behavioural studies course and you would not believe how helpful it is. I managed to gain a merit for the course and even though the class only lasted 1 semester, I still find myself referring to it now for other classes!

You get a very clear insight into lots of important people and the book is clearly divided into chapters for ease of use.

I would highly recommend this to anyone!
