Fascinating, thoughtful and practical, 23 Sep 2001
By A Customer
This book is not only interesting and timely, but it is genuinely thought-provoking. I heard the author speak in Bristol and was compelled to buy the book and I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. It's a fascinating read, brilliantly researched, with practical information on every single element of living organically. For readers' information, that means why we should go organic (after reading this, you'll be in no doubt as to why!), what's going on in the world, how to recognise organic brands, the best places to buy organic food, how to cook organic food to get the most from what we eat, organic food for children (this is scary!), growing organic (sensible, easy-to-follow advice for everything from lawns to herbs in boxes) and organic household and body. Karen Sullivan doesn't preach, she simply presents the facts (compellingly) and offers sensible solutions and game plans. For example, she tells us what needs to be organic and what doesn't, and how to manage it on a tight budget. There's also a good section called Nobody's Perfect, and she talks about the oddities, and the drawbacks of an organic lifestyle, which is ultimately reassuring and sensible. I love this book, and I took it along to the supermarket the last time I went shopping. Highly recommended, even if you want to make only a few changes to your lifestyle.

Great introduction to Organic living, 28 Sep 2001
By Margie - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Organic Living in 10 Simple Lessons (Paperback)
Loved the simple approach, but best of all learned Organics is not a marketing hype, but an increasing, interested way of life for many. This motivated me to search out organics, laws, labeling, government agencies and other web sites. I have learned Americans are bombarded with unnecessary chemicals, and consumerism, and we should have a choice about what we purchase. Some states are ahead in this lifestyle than others. Unfortunately, we trust the products with the small amounts, but fail to think about its build up. I am learning. Great book, and making the transformation into organics-food, cosmetics, cleaning etc. And have saved money by living a more simple life.

Simple wise advise, 29 May 2006
By MotherLodeBeth "MotherLodeBeth" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Organic Living in 10 Simple Lessons (Paperback)
Oddly enough one of the best pieces of organic food advise I have heard that this book seems to drive home is read labels as if you were reading a medication prescription, and know what is in the item you are buying, whether it is food, clothing, cars, furniture. Then stop and ask yourself if you really need the item or simply want it. Less is best and thinking as if you lived pre WW2 helps because this was an era where people grew more of their own foods, wore clothes out, repaired items rather than toss them out and buy a new item.

Very good, easy to follow advise, 29 Mar 2007
By P. Anderson - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Organic Living in 10 Simple Lessons (Paperback)
This book has been very helpful to me in learning how to incorporate more ways to be organic in my life/home/eating/etc.
Practical advise & ways to make a difference, even if it is only a small one.
Effective ways to go organic in regards to babies (glass not plastic bottles!, pesticides in kids), building homes (low voc paint, no voc paint), painting, eating, gardening, banking and a lot more.
Of the 4 "green" books that I own so far, this one has the most & best advice in it.
