DESCRIPTION:

Zoë Pendergraft falls in love with an angel, frees a soul from necromancers, releases a ghost trapped in the Void, and saves his living grandson from demons.

Most of Zoë's friends are dead, but she doesn't mind because they died long before she met them. Then one Tuesday night an angel takes her salsa dancing and turns her world upside down.

Grim reality closes in when she discovers a body in her company's boiler room and Higher Angels accuse her best ghost friend of murder. Knowing she's the only one who can stand against them, Zoë resorts to lying, stealing and summoning, all while trying to determine if the tempestuous love she's feeling is real. In the end, getting blood on her hands forces Zoë to question herself, and her angel to question her.

Contains strong language and supernatural sizzle.

About the Author

India knew from age nine that writing would be her passion. Since then she's discovered many more, but none quite so fulfilling as creating a world, a character, or a moment and watching them evolve into something complex and compelling. She has lived in three countries and four American states, is a dual British and American citizen, and currently lives at the base of the Scottish Highlands in a village so small its main attraction is a red phone box. In other words: paradise. The supernatural and paranormal have always fascinated India. In addition to being an avid sci-fi and fantasy reader, she also enjoys mysteries, thrillers, and romance. This probably explains why her novels have elements of adventure, ghosts (or elves, fairies, angels, aliens, and whatever else she can dream up), and spicy love stories.

Anything But Ordinary 5 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
With a smart sassy heroine, sexy angels and a fast-paced plot, India Drummond's Ordinary Angels is a heavenly read.

Zoe sees dead people. But for her, they're more than just visions -- they're her friends. So when one of them goes missing amidst an accusation of murder, Zoe can't help but get involved. From start to finish, Drummond effortlessly creates an intriguing world with necromancers and angelic orders I easily fell into. Mix in Zoe's romance with an angel even the devil couldn't resist and a dark mystery that could have disastrous consequences for the determined Zoe, and even chocolate couldn't lure me away.

Ordinary Angels is anything but ordinary. With its unique mix of romance, mystery and escapism, it is -- quite simply -- pure bliss.

I remember watching the film, 'Date with an Angel' when I was a teenager and when I started reading Ordinary Angels, I was thinking of this film. I didn't know that India Drummond has created an even more beautiful love story. If you fell in love with a wizard and a vampire, I promise you, you will fall in love with an angel.

The intimate scenes are immaculate. There's another film that comes to mind. Have you seen the film, City of Angels which starred Meg Ryan and Nicolas Cage? Do you remember how they made love? Do you remember how pure, innocent and celestial the love scene was? That is how I would describe the intimate moments between Zoe and Alexander. They are powerful. They remain with you. India has captured me. She writes in a way that each chapter gives me a sweet 'aftertaste' that she makes me long for more.

Don't be the last to read India Drummond's debut novel. It is truly an enjoyable book you'd like to take with you - for a relaxing read by the beach, at the park or even in your own home - with a cup of hot choco!

Zoë sees dead people. She also talks to them and considers some her best friends. So when her ghostly friend Henry disappears and is accused of the crime of ending someone's life outside their designated timeline, Zoë is determined to prove her friend innocent. Zoë is also juggling a new relationship, just one small issue her new boyfriend Alexander is an angel on the brink of being cast from the Heavenly court and falling from grace.

Zoë is a woman with a mission throughout this book and holds her own against the supernatural creatures she encounters; be they angelic or demon. She is initially clueless to the workings of angels within the mortal realm, yet she is soon wielding supernatural weapons, summoning ghosts and battling demons.

The angels in this book are hardly ordinary, whilst heroine Zoë proves herself an extraordinary leading lady; she's likeable, proactive and determined to help out a friend, be they dead or not entirely human. The pace and tone of this novel work well, plus there are some interesting ideas and some great action scenes. This is a highly enjoyable fantasy romance and I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for book 2 "Familiar Demons" due for publication 2012.

It was a mixture of Twilight and Lost Girl if you watch those programmes, with a little bit of romance thrown in for good measure. Will read more books by this author.

Humans are full of conflict because they have both free will and a veil of ignorance. You do not remember where you came from or what you are, so you spend entire lifetimes either trying to figure it out, or cope by creating purpose. Somewhere in that muddle of confusion and suffering, humans are capable of growth and even greatness, hopes and aspirations. "e;
