Unlike many Arab states, the Sultanate of Oman issued very few medals prior to 1976, and these followed very closely to their British equivalent in respect of award criteria. During the 70's and 80's every British Expatriate you met in the middle east claimed to have taken part in the war in Dhofar (Oman). Many others claimed to have received awards from the Sultan for their contribution to the country's development. Here, in Ashly Tinson's book all the recipients of the various awards are listed. Researched from original records, by someone who served as a staff officer in the Sultan's Armed Forces, this book informs who was awarded what and when. A valuable contribution to getting things correct.
