The best and most focused BLS album in a long time, it has an excellent mix of both speed (eg Parade of the Dead) and slow songs (eg Darkest Days). The singing style is more pronounced, guitars are as ever superb. Ozzy done us a favour getting rid of Zakk, now we have the real Zakk and BLS back.
If you liked any of BLS works before now then rush out and buy this, you will not be disappointed.

Have listened to this new edition of BLS a few times now. Only recently discovering the band i am/ have been in the process of buying the whole collection of albums incl pride and glory( which im sorry to say I just cannot get my head around) I started with 3 albums, Sonic Brew, Mafia, and Blessed Hellride. Each album i found amazing, So many influences, extremely heavy tuneful riffs that in my opinion is inimitable. So across the albums, some really heavy, some not so heavy and some ballads ( who said Zakk was very samey? )
This new album has it all rather than concentrating on one of the three. An absolute credit to him and his band. Recently saw him at the High Voltage festival and now know ill be a huge fan for many years.

The title says it. I have been out of the heavy metal scene for a while now but saw this album had to buy it. I think BLS are amazing and this is still shows that Zakk is still producing some amazing tunes.

A superb return to form from zakk wylde and the BLS bunch, leaving the ozzy band was a good decision and it shows in this album its more focused, each song has its own signature riff and crazy horse is a belting opener and the following songs dont dissappoint, there is the usual ballad type stuff that is done so well and Chupacabra shows zakk amazing techinical ability in the same fashion that takillyn.

A most have for an heavy metal fan and im sure the SDMF will buys this in the 000's

Keep up the good work Zakk and co.

Order Of The Black is the eighth full-length studio album by the American Heavy Metal band Black Label Society, the band featuring former Ozzy Osbourne virtuoso guitarist Zack Wylde.

Order Of The Black is seen as something of a return to form for certain fans of the band, in that after two albums that were perceived to have toned things down a little, and resided too much in only the mid and slow tempos, this record brings back a much heavier production job and more fast paced songs. Its also filled with more personality displaying guitar tricks and virtuosic solos.

It is certainly a very well written and masterfully crafted collection of songs in the Black Label Society style, it does everything that the band intend to do and it does it well, with a certain unquantifiable `umph.'

Standout tracks include the groovy opener `Crazy Horse,' the memorable singles `Overlord' and `Parade Of The Dead' and the speedy and incredibly meaty `Godspeed Hellbound.'

All the usual Black Label Society features make an appearance on the record, there's a few ballads, there's a few mid tempo heavy numbers and there's an acoustic guitar solo. If anything bad were to be said about the album beyond `the band have done this style before' it would be that the album is perhaps a little overlong. Other than those two potential faults however, this is one of the better Black Label Society albums overall, and it contains a few genuine career highlights.

Overall; Order Of The Black is a strong Black Label Society album, with a satisfyingly heavy production job, a bit of variety and some of the best tracks the band have written in there during its long duration. As long as you aren't absolutely sick of their style, or are bothered by its length, this will definitely be an enjoyable album and you should absolutely check it out.

... but this record seriously rocks!
THIS is how modern metal music is done!
Definitely worth buying, even if you are not into BLS/Zakk.

Whilst looking around for some new heavy rock music to listen to, I came across 'Order of the Black' while running through some track previews. On listening to the full album I am still impressed, a great rock album with plenty of hard driving guitars and solid tracks. A great introduction to the band for me and I am looking forward to discovering more of this band.

This is the strongest and most focussed BLS album for ages, possibly since The Blessed Hellride. This maybe because Zakk is no longer doing double duty with Ozzy and BLS. Whatever reason this collection is possibly the best mix of the harder rock and acoustic side of the band. Zakk is on top form and i was really impressed by his rhythm playing here, his guitar tone is huge! As always his lead playing is top notch, the acoustic showcase Chupacabra is awesome and ending is similar to Spannish Fly by Eddie! Zakk its great to have you back, to me you remain the best rock guitaist out there please tour the UK soon! This is a must buy for any Zakk or Ozzy fan!
