This book does things like:
uses the light levels of Hawaii and New England (can you guess what the light's like in New England)as guides for various light level requirements of certain orchids. What about the light in Scotland, Middle or South England, Wales?
Even the names of compost components are American and it is not always obvious what their UK counterpart is (even if there is one),
the suppliers and web links etc are also for the US market.
Finally there are many hybrids and cultivars in this book and unless you check them individually there is no way of telling if they are available here. In my experience of other plants' cultivars that are available to the US market they are often not available here.
If you are a beginner it would make sense to by a book with UK specific information.
No attempt has been made by the authors or publishers to internationalise this book except the attempt to sell it to us.
I would try
The Orchid Expert as a cheaper and UK oriented alternative.
