Product Description

Product Description

In this award winning game, players aim to grow a tall flower with as many leaves as possible before the flower blooms. Each player starts with a plant pot, and all the stalk and flower cards are spread out face down, with the colour spot showing on the reverse, around the compost heap in the middle of the table. A player rolls the die, and turns over a card with the same colour. If the card they turn over is a stalk card, they can add this to their pot and start to grow their plant, and play passes to the next player. However, if they pick up a flower, their plant is fully grown and they cannot add any more to it. They can still play, though, as they continue to take their turns, and if they pick up another flower, they can place it on another player's stem to stop their plant growing. The game is over when everyone's plant has flowered. All the players then count the leaves on their plant, and the winner is the player with the most leaves. The game helps children with counting and with colour matching, and is suitable for ages 4 to 7. Its bright colours make it appealing, and it is printed on thick, sturdy, wipe-clean card, so will withstand plenty of handling.

This is a nice, simple game - good for girls and boys aged about 4-9 although grandparents, parents etc have all joined in to make up the numbers. Basically you put all the cards face down (or spot side up) and take turns picking one. They have different leaf values on them so you gradually build up a tall plant with differing amounts of leaves. The most leaves on your stem wins. There are a few other bits invovled which escape me for the moment but it does have some other elements that make it slightly more interesting than what I've described above! Eg a compost bin for certain cards. If you pick a flower card it finishes off your plant. All the cards are satisfyingly thick and durable with nice bright colours.

I play this with my 2 and 5 year olds. It's great for the younger one as it teaches her about colours, and counting the leaves. It's a fairly quick game which keeps their attention, and really easy to explain to others so is a big hit when friends and family come round - everyone enjoys it, and you can play with 2-6 players. It's definitely the best game we have for this age group.

We all love this game. It only takes seconds to set up, our 4 year old found it very easy to learn the "rules", games only last 5-10 minutes (popular with Mum and Dad for that reason). Teaches colours, counting and helps children learn that you don't always win. Also, quite portable and will definitely be taking on annual holiday this year. Highly recommended.

I bought this game for my grand daughter who is 3. She loved it but her older brother and sister probably played with it more often than she did. For younger children it is good for colour matching and turn taking. Older ones can count the leaves to see who wins but the winner is determined by luck, not skill which means mixed ages can play happily together. The cards are fairly robust. Excellent value.

The flowerpot game is a fun, colourful game that helps children learn about planting flowers, amongst other things. It's a great game.
