This hilarious game consists of 36 cards, each showing a different body part - heads, middles and legs - which can be made to form 12 characters. The ultimate object of the game is to be the first player to build three correctly matched characters, but along the way the characters' body parts get mixed up, producing some very strange combinations. The game starts by shuffling the cards and placing them in a pile, face down, in the middle of the table. Players take it in turns to pick a card and place it face upwards in front of them. Play continues until eventually they have a mismatched character. If they pick up a body part they already have, they can choose whether to swap the body parts or to keep the original. Any cards they don't need are discarded into another pile, face up. Following players can choose to pick up from the main pile or the discard pile. Once they have a correctly matched person, that character is moved to one side, and play continues until someone wins by forming three correctly matched characters. Alternatively, children can have lots of fun simply playing with the different cards to see what funny characters they can make. An educational guide on the box shows how the game can complement your child's education. There are many other ways to add play value to the game, such as talking about the different characters, or asking your child to find the person carrying some eggs, or the card that shows someone with green hair. Ideally suited for ages 3 to 7, children will have great fun with these Pick and Mix People.

We have had this for quite while now, but have only recently started playing it a lot. My 9 and 7 year old are happy to play it with their 3 year old brother and as it doesn't involve any reading or sums it is simple enough for him to play with hardly any help. They really enjoy it - particularly when they end up with funny combinations. The older ones have also started to try and work out which parts of people are worth keeping depending on what the other players have already got - so tactical thinking has come into it very suprisingly!

I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old daughter as I thought she'd find it a lot of fun. She doesn't really understand the giggle aspect of mixing up the heads, middles and legs yet, and got very worried that the 'wrong' parts were put together. So it's of limited appeal at the moment, as we're using it to find the matching parts. I'm sure she'll grow into it though, and it really depends on your child's character! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cards which are nice and thick, and look as though they'll withstand plenty of playing.

My 3 and a half year old absolutely loves this game, and luckily none of the adults get bored of playing it either. Another great game from Orchard Toys.

not as good as other Orchard Toys games
My 3yo is a huge fan of the shopping list game and some of the orchard toys puzzles. She got this for Christmas but just isn't keen. I'm not either. Read more

A nice set of cards and educational in terms of learning about peoples jobs and coordination to place the sets together in the right order.
