The 48 rhyming cards in this box can be used to play 3 different versions of this game. In version one, players each choose a card, and have to pick another from the cards spread face down on the table that rhymes with the one they have chosen. The aim is to make as many rhyming pairs as they can, and they have to make up a sentence using the cards that they have. They can increase their scores by collecting three or four rhyming cards, but must make up a sentence using all the rhyming cards they have. Once they have a rhyming pair, players can continue by taking more cards from the middle, aiming to produce more rhymes. The winner is the person with the highest score. In the second version of the game, players try to match the word from the top of a pile by turning over unseen cards on the table, collecting pairs that rhyme as they go. The winner is the person with the most rhyming pairs at the end of the game. In the third game, players each take a hand of two cards, and pick unseen cards from the table which they hope will rhyme with one of the cards in their hand. If they find a rhyming pair, they put the pair to one side and pick another to bring their hand back up to two cards. The winner is the player with the most rhyming pairs at the end of the game. Made from durable, thick card, and with colourful, cheerful illustrations and clear writing, this will help children with literacy skills. The game is suitable for 2 to 4 players, ideally aged from 5 to 9.

Another hit from Orchard Toys - they really do great, FUN, educational toys, and this is another fine example of them getting it right! It can be played in several different ways, making more interesting and pliable to a preschoolers attention span. Plus, the kids can grow up with it as they start to spell out words, and make up silly sentances with their cards...one for all the family to enjoy!

This game is excellent for children who are getting ready to learn to read right through to those who already can. The rhyming cards are colour coded so children who don't understand rhyming can still play. There are several games you can play with the cards and it's great for making up silly sentences. It's one of the best Orchard games we have.

I bought this for our holiday to England, it was bound to rain at some stage & keeping a nearly 2 & nearly 5 year old can be a little taxing. They both loved it although the youngest made up her own rules in that way that toddlers do. I expect (hope?) that the eldest will get even more from it when she starts school in September.
