My 8 year old daughter has enjoyed this book so much, both reading it herself and having it read it to her. It's Shakespeare made accessible for parents as well as children! - as the preface says Shakespeare never meant for his plays to be read, they were written to be acted out on a stage, and as they are such rich stories anyway they work so very well 'adapted' to read as stories. The layout and 'cast list' at the start of each play/story are really nice touches too. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book 11 Jan 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is a lovely book and gives the overall story in a way that is easy to read. If you want to introduce Shakespeare to a child or if like me you simply cannot get the hang of the way the plays are written then this book will be of enormous help. I love the way the stories are written and the illustrations are beautiful.
Shakespeare wrote the plays to be enacted not read so by making the plays accessible as a story it opens the Bards works up to a larger audience. I am on the look out for more books like this to have more of his stories in this sort of format.

2.0 out of 5 stars Revisiting Shakespeare 20 Mar 2011
By Sarah
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I bought this book because I wanted to revisit Shakespeare on an easy level!
The book is easy to understand. However, having purchased a 'used' book which is a little to 'used', I wished I'd purchased a new one!

This book is just so beautiful and it contains all of Shakespeare’s most popular works. It makes a wonderful baby shower gift. I have given to a couple close friends and they have all loved it. I also have a copy of my own and it’s great to read through the condensed version of these timeless classic stories.
